BOB
This is an easy subject to talk about but is hard to actually implement. Some people are naturally laid back and some are just high strung. As some background, I am a naturally laid-back person and try to bring, if not great, at least a positive or good attitude to work. As such, I have a difficult time understanding why other people get so stressed out. So, I will try to give you tips and hints on what you can do to release and rid yourself of tension and why it is important to have a positive attitude.

What good has ever come out of getting worked up or stressed out about a situation that is more often than not out of our control? Think about it. Quite often the pros of stress are heavily outweighed by the cons. The only valid positive aspect of stress is its ability to motivate. You feel stressed about a situation that in turn means you are motivated to act on it. On the surface it sounds like a good thing right? Nope. Sure, acting on something is great, but under stressful conditions you will often feel pressured to relive the situation in the wrong way. In the end meaning more work for you.

Lets quickly review this, keep a positive attitude, do not take stress home with you from work and be prepared. This will help keep you sane along with others around you. Plus management thinks, and this is usually true, happy workers are hard workers and it is always good if management thinks you are a hard worker (actually one of the objectives in this book is for management to think you are a hard worker, because it’s ah… true).
