There is nothing wrong with surfing the Internet while you are working. Sometimes you have legitimate stress or you are actually busting your ass and you just need a little break. Most employers realize this and don’t have a problem because it does help with productivity (less stress more productivity). Like practicing safe sex, you should always protect yourself when entering un-charted waters. In both cases, not being careful can lead to an unexpected surprise, be it a bouncing baby, an interesting rash, or a pink slip. You need to be wary about the types of websites you want to ‘discreetly’ visit during the daily grind. Sure there are the sites that we all know and love, (my favorite being the Internet Movie Data Base http://www.imdb.com) but if they can get you into trouble… look at them at home. Listed below are a few pointers to help make your workday surfing experience, a safe and enjoyable one.
